S&P lowers ratings outlook for Alcoa to negative October 9th, 2008 SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Standard & Poor’s on Thursday lowered its outlook for Alcoa Inc. to negative from stable because of weaker-than-expected third-quarter earnings. S&P affirmed its BBB+ long-term and A-2 short-term corporate credit ratings on Alcoa. “The outlook revision reflects the company’s weaker-than-expected third-quarter earnings, the result of falling aluminum prices and weak end markets,” said Marie S
